Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha will field a three-strong rider line up for the 2023 motocross season with Jamie Carpenter joining three-times MX Nationals MX1 Champion Harri Kullas on the all-new YZ450F, while Sam Nunn continues on the YZ250F in the MX2 class.
Remaining as Yamaha Motor UK’s official MX team for the third year, the Hampshire-based outfit will be gunning for glory once again in 2023 having taken Estonian rider Harri Kullas to MX1 success with the YZ450F in the Michelin MX Nationals series for the last two seasons, while narrowly missing out on the coveted Revo British Championship title in taking the runner-up spot in both 2021 and 2022.
Kullas will be joined by 2022 MX Nationals Pro MX2 champion Jamie Carpenter, who graduates from the 250cc class to MX1 for 2023. Having previously raced with Crescent support, Carpenter is no stranger to the Yamaha family and after his MX Nationals success and stunning second overall in the REVO British MX2 class, feels ready to step-up to MX1 with the exciting 2023 YZ450F.
Kullas and Carpenter will be equipped with the new YZ450F for 2023, which features an all-new, lighter, slimmer and more powerful 450cc engine and a new lightweight aluminium frame with a slimmer profile and improved rider ergonomics.
Youngster Sam Nunn continues with the team for a second season in 2023, again campaigning the proven, class-leading YZ250F in the MX2 classes. After an injury hampered campaign in 2022, Nunn is keen to return his GYTR kitted YZ250F to the podium next season.
Harri Kullas – MX1
“I am very happy once again to stay with Yamaha under the Cab Screens Crescent awning. I have enjoyed my riding in the last two years so it was a very easy decision to continue with Yamaha. The YZ450F is an easy bike to ride and also easy to work with, and for 2023 we have a completely new model and I have only heard good things about the bike so I’m very excited to try it!”
Jamie Carpenter – MX1
“I’m really happy to join the Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha team for 2023. It’s great to be back working with Crescent and Yamaha Motor UK. After a successful 2022 season, I will be making the step up to the MX1 class, which is a really exciting prospect and I have already began my winter preparations and I’m excited to see what I can do on the new YZ450F next season. I rode the bike earlier this year at the MX Pro Tour and was very impressed!”
Sam Nunn – MX2
“I’m really pleased to be staying with Yamaha for my sixth season on a blue bike in 2023. I can’t wait to get the year started, working with the Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha team is a pleasure and while 2022 was tough in some ways, there were a lot of positives so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully getting my YZ250F back on the box!”
Lee Webber – Team Owner
“I am really pleased we can finally announce such a strong line-up for 2023. To have Harri and Jamie, who were champions in the MX1 and MX2 classes respectively in the MX Nationals series and runner-up in their classes in the British Championship, on the team shows how far we have come. Plus, to have Sam Nunn on the YZ250F is excellent as he’s one of the brightest young, up and coming British riders around at the minute.
“A huge thanks to Yamaha Motor UK and Crescent Yamaha for their help in putting this team together. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve, especially with the all-new YZ450F.”
Paul Denning – Crescent Yamaha
“Lee and his team are an absolute pleasure to work with and Crescent Yamaha is delighted to continue the partnership into the ‘23 season. Harri is simply a star, he has all the tools he needs as he aims to go one better in the British Championship campaign next year, and having such a focused rider as Jamie – who we welcome back to Crescent Yamaha - joining him as teammate means we have great representation in the MX1 class. Lee recognises Sam as a true talent and with increased team support on the YZ250F we expect him to be competitive from the start of the season. Good luck guys!”
Matt Taylerson – Yamaha Motor UK
“Since Cab Screens joined forces with Crescent to become the official Yamaha Motor UK team in 2021, the partnership has been hugely successful with two MX Nationals MX1 titles and numerous British Championship victories including the runner-up spot for Harri Kullas in both 2021 and 2022. We have an all-new YZ450F for 2023, and we are confident the bike is a big step forward so I am sure this success will continue. It’s great to see Jamie Carpenter back in blue for 2023 as he steps up to the MX1 class and to retain Sam Nunn for what will be his sixth year on a Yamaha is fantastic. We wish the team every success.”
